Our first ever Mexican Shorts Program provides an interesting overview of trends in Mexican filmmaking, but also the breadth of the social strata in Mexico. Mostly concentrating on the youth in Mexico, this package gives a unique discovery of some fresh voices coming out of our neighbor to the South.

Jai Ariel Zylbersztein (9 min)
A grandmother confronts the most feared question from her
graddaughter. It’s the moment to a make a decision that could
change history.

Charros (14 min)
As in the golden years of Mexican film, a charro tries to conquer
a girl by taking her flowers. When he discovers his sidekick has
been growing marijuana, he comes up with a scheme that could
land him the girl.

Huevos Rene (10 min)
Rodolfo and his friends amuse themselves by roaming the city
and throwing eggs. One day they plan an outing to a brothel,
where Rodolfo refuses to go. What we learn is the secret he’s
been keeping about his maid at home.

Old Maid (6 min)
Consuelo dismisses the old mans comments about her daughter
and her relations, but little does she know he might know
something she doesn't.

The Other American Dream (10 min)
On Mexico’s US border, a young girl tries to cross the border in
search of the American Dream.

Entre Dos (10 min)
Only ten years old and very ill, his parents need to find an organ
donore but no one seems to care. Time is running out for young
Daniel... Will they find a way out?
