Santiago Palavecino's debut feature is beautifully restrained and committed to observing the fragility of memory. Sebastian Pagani, a young filmmaker, returns to Chacabuco, Argentina, his hometown, after leaving for a brighter future in the city. He plans to shoot his first film there, about Haroldo Conti, the writer killed during the dictatorship who was also born in the town. His focus changes with the overwhelming presence of the past: some time ago, a childhood friend committed suicide under unknown circumstances. While learning an artisan's job necessary for his film project, Pagani also learns enigmatic details of the death of his friend. He begins to lose interest in his film project and instead gets more interested in researching his friend's suicide. Unexpectedly the film project and his friend's death merge together. Santiago Palavecino was born in Chacabuco in 1974 and pursued studies in filmmaking, music and literature. He has directed several short films and a documentary video film for TV. Some of his articles appeared on Punto de vista (Point of view) and other Argentinean and international publications. His works in screenwriting have received awards from the Fundación Antorchas (Antorchas Fund) and the INCAA. At present he is working on the project of his second feature film, La lealtad (Loyalty,)-AHS
