DIRECTOR: Seong Baek-yeong
Recommended for Age 8+A compassionate, beautifully animated feature about a five-year-old boy, Gil-son, and his blind sister, Gam-I, who find a home in a Buddhist monastery. To overcome feelings of grief over their mother, the children bring laughter and mischief to the monks’ lives. When winter begins, Gil-son follows his favorite monk, Seol-jeong, to stay at a small Buddhist temple high on the mountaintop. His hope is to attain enlightenment, so that he may see his mother one last time. Tragically, the boy is stranded in a snowstorm, but he achieves his otherworldly goal. A sad but deeply spiritual tale based on the popular story by Jeong Chae-bong. SEONG BAEK-YEONG began his career as an animation director for Warner Brothers and Disney cartoons. OSEAM is his first feature film.
